A skin growth is usually small and composed of a fibrotic core covered by skin. These masses typically develop in areas where the skin folds and creases are found, such as the armpit and the neck.

Skin growths are usually raised off from the skin, and are painless masses. They generally do not grow to significant sizes (typically less than 1 cm). The risk of developing them increases as one gets older. They are believed to develop from the rubbing of skin on skin.

At Mendis Aesthetics, we utilise our popular CO2 Laser treatment to remove skin growths, and this can also be used to remove moles, milia seeds, oil seeds and warts.

Removing Skin Growths

For larger skin growths, excision may be require. However in most cases, laser removal is precise, safe, effective and does not leave a scar. Lasers work by destroying the damaged skin cells that cause skin growths. As skin tags are found in the deep layers of the skin, lasers can aid in their removal by producing small wounds to promote healing process. As the laser penetrate the skin growths, surrounding skin surface will not be damaged. The heat from the laser will also promote new skin cells and collagen production. After a few laser treatments, you’ll notice smoother and brighter skin.

Skin growths are a type of harmless skin growth or benign tumor and it does not become cancerous if left untreated.

Both skin growths and wart removal can be removed by our Co2 laser treatment.

The treatment requires low to almost no downtime.

Most patients experience minimal redness and swelling that usually fades after a few hours. While some require one session, others may require a couple more as it varies for the individual depending on the number of skin tags. The pain level is 3/10 and is a comfortable treatment. Numbing cream will be provided to ensure patients comfort.

How does laser remove skin growths?

Lasers work by destroying the damaged skin cells that cause skin growths and scars in the first place. Because skin growths are found deep within the layers of the skin, lasers can aid in their removal by producing small wounds that urge the skin to heal.
